so, i was on duty this afternoon. 2 women in the house (i know i haven't fully explained my job role, just go with me for the moment).
one of them said, i'm going to make a drink.
a few mins later, i went into the kitchen. straight away i saw the hot hob of the Aga smoking really badly, like out the sides of it. i lifted it up and flames shot out of it - so i dropped it straight away and called for the other girl working.
she came in, lifted the lid whilst i threw the fire blanket over it. it put the flames out but then the Aga started burning through the fire blanket?! we took it off again...anyway.
turns out, the woman who went to make the tea had mistaken the new, plastic, electric kettle for the old one (the kind you heat on a hob that has a whistle to tell you when it's done). sooo...the plastic bit burnt off completely and that's what was burning on the hob.
omg, my head hurts from the plastic fumes :/
